Monday dawned cold and gray, with ice on the pond and in the wind. It started to snow during lunch; a not unusual — but decidedly unwelcome — event at this time of year. The snow melted when it hit the street but it stuck to everything else, coating the garden quite quickly. Even at 1 p.m. when the mail was delivered, the temperature outdoors was still hovering at 22 degrees.
Luckily the postman had a package for me; a very welcome treat on a day like this. And what was inside this little box was even more welcome: a cup decorated with sepia images of antique chairs. It suggested only one thing: putting the kettle on, filling the mug with hot tea and then sitting myself down in front of the fire to try it out. (Note the great toile wrap on the box. The black design on utilitarian brown paper makes it contemporary and the choice pegs the giver as a design maven).
A heartwarming treat. Cheers to you, Meg, and thanks again from my currently cold little world.
You're more than welcome! I am so pleased that Connor picked you.
PS... the paper is from the dollar store! I also found some with white lace printed on the brown paper. They're so perfect for so many things!

Meg is such a generous person and finds ways to make everyday, small things special. She has a great spirit!
Ms. Wis, I'm glad you have the cup.

Courtney — you're right! Meg is very thoughtful. (And on the topic of ribbon: I've been known to wrap my husband's gifts in some of my favorite ribbons knowing that way they'll stay in the family for a bit where I can enjoy them before I send them out into the world).
