My garden doesn't have the necessary hours of sunlight to be able to grow ornamental grasses. So I concentrate on sedges and rushes instead. Among my favorites in the former category is variegated broadleaf sedge (Carex siderosticha variegata), which I've been growing for a dozen years. It makes an attractive groundcover and keeps its variegation all year. Last summer I started a small patch to fill in an awkward spot between a rock and the gravel path. It turned out to be such an elegant solution that now I've got my eyes open for other awkward transitions that could benefit from a sprinkling of sedge.
OOOooooo I will have to find some of this Carex. It is a beauty and fills in so nice as you say.

Perfect! Does it require moisture like most sedges seem to need? gail
