I took a look at this interesting post early this morning. Then, when I sat down to breakfast, and turned the page on my NY Review of Books for the morning reading, there in front of me was an article by Martin Filler titled "The Most Happy Couple" (unfortunately subscription only online); it was reviewing a show in London on Victoria and Albert, their memorabilia and their art collections. It sure was a fascinating family. Filler gives the film a fleeting mention, calling it a "diverting, fancily caparisoned biopic.."

One of Queen Victoria's granddaughter's was Alexandra - who was the last czarina of Russia. Alexandra's only son was a hemophiliac.

How interesting. I don't know what it is about royal families but they always seem to fascinate us. The fact that usually the families have interesting personalities probably doesn't hurt. Thanks for the book review. I may seek it out.
