Heavy rain and wind last night and on and off today, with another storm blowing in as I write. They will definitely spell the end of this swath of iris which as been an spot of electric color visible from the living room windows all week.
We planted the ajuga to be a flowing line of blue across the edge of the deck and the pond where it would meet up with this little iris. But ajuga has a mind of its own; the area where it was originally planted is bare while it keeps appearing further and further away. These days it's edging the waterful, mimicking the motion of the stream.
Oh my, oh my, oh my! Simply lovely. The moss on the rock is the perfect accent to the blue. :0)

The ajuga alongside the waterfall looks so beautiful, more like a wild mountain stream than a contained garden.

what is it about ajuga? mine has done the same thing. it spreads but seems to leave a bare spot behind. apparently it's more of a traveler than a 'spreader'!

That ajuga does seem to flow like water in a stream. Excellent planning and a lovely way to highlight this beautiful plant.

The Ajuga looks perfect beside your wonderful waterfall, but it often is a problem child. I've found that it most wants to grow out in the lawn.
Perfect irises!

The iris are gorgeous. What thought you put into your plantings. But I adore your waterfall. Is this a natural feature in your garden?
