Only the first week of October but leaves are turning and burning bright. The most vibrant color combination of the moment, however, pairs the clumps of nasturtiums I planted in the "Traffic Island" with the electric yellow paint that marks the edge of the mid-street bed.
Oh, you just have to love tough little nasturtiums, don't you. Is that 'Empress of India'?
I wish I could get over the feeling of dread that winter is coming. I think I would enjoy the beauty of autumn so much more.

Erin — I know what you mean. The last few winters have been so long and snowy that it's hard to accept that that's what will happen next. Just saw a photo of the pond on 4/6 last spring and there was significant snow still on the ground. Horrid thought! But we're having a tiny bit of rain at the moment so I am counting my current blessings.
