Though I like white daffodils and white rhodies, I'm not channeling Sissinghurst. I think of myself as someone who gardens in color with a rainbow of Primulas, red and yellow Trilliums, orange tulips and lots of colorful foliage plants as well. But when Mark took a stroll through the garden with his camera, you can see what he found: 18 white plants currently in bloom.
Woodland peony (Paeonia obvata var. alba and close-up)
Trillium grandiflorum
Apple blossom (Malus, early Macintosh)
False rue anemone (Isopyrum biternatum)
Primrose (Primula sieboldii)
'Running Tapestry' Foamflower (Tiarella x cordifolia 'Running Tapestry')
Carolina silverbell (Halesia tetraptera)
Snowdrop anemone (Anemone sylvestris)
'Sparkling Diamond' Hellebore (Helleborus 'Sparkling Diamond')
'Hardwick Hall' Lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis 'Hardwick Hall')
'Dreamlight' Daffodil (Narcissus 'Dreamlight')
'Pheasant's Eye' Daffodil (Narcissus poeticus 'Pheasant's Eye')
Sweet woodruff (Gallium odoratum)
Lady Tulip (Tulip clusiana)
White bleeding heart (Dicentra spectabilis 'Alba'. I know this plant has a new botanical name but I am sticking with the one I can remember.)
Rhododendron yedoense poukhanense 'Alba'. Thought this was a goner after our winter, but it finally leafed out and has 3 flowers rather than the usual 30-40. I'm not complaining.
'Massachusetts' Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uvi-ursi 'Massachusetts')
I love white flowers, especially in a shady garden like mine. That top woodland peony is beautiful.

This is particularly timely. Just the other day I was thinking that I don't have enough white in my garden. I would never go to all white or anything like that (I like color far too much for that), but it does add a bit of sparkle. Every year when you post pictures of that woodland peony I tell myself I need to get one and I'm doing the same again this year. It's just lovely.
