I grow a lot more shrubs in my current garden than I did in my former, for the same reason: less maintenance. Only many of my "shrubs" are woody lilies like agave, yucca, and sotol. Shrubs are also good for shady gardens, I find.

Very impressive! You've been working hard and it shows. I have great respect for folks who so artfully arrange foliage plants in a garden.
