Winter in Wisconsin tends to mean house plants (I've got 'em) or blooms from the grocery store (Alstroemerias with evergreens are in the front hall). Since I can't go out into the garden and cut flowers to put in a vase I dropped out of my favorite meme, In a Vase on Monday. I missed participating in this fun and inventive gathering of gardeners. So, I'm back — albeit taking the concept in a more conceptual direction. We have so many rocks gathered on visits and vacations that I decided to enjoy them in a vase. Voila!
To see what others have put in a vase today, visit Cathy at Rambling in the Garden who hosts this Monday meme.
Beautiful! I love to find different ways to display my favorite rocks.

Lisa — We used to line them up along the sills of a bank of floor-to-ceiling windows but they are now hidden by curtains so I needed a new location.

Oh hurrah, Linda! I am SO pleased you have posted this vase as it is exactly the sort of thing I am trying to encourage people to do by thinking out of the box. I love it - the pebbles would give me pleasure too and I am forever picking them up myself. Thank you so much for this contribution :)

Good thinking, they're in a vase and it's Monday - so what could be wrong with that!

The staging couldn't be more perfect Linda. That really is thinking outside the box!

Cathy — Thanks for those kind comments! I think you will also enjoy my next vase postings. As for stones, I also used a lot of flat ones as "mulch" in a couple of pots on my deck for a few years.

Christina and Kris — I do love this meme and was missing taking part, so I am glad you are all so supportive of my "vase".

What a great idea - conceptional opens ups many possibilities! The stones look very good in that vase and would provide a good base for flowers in the spring.
