Glad I sent Mark into the garden with his camera before the wind and rain arrived Monday night and ended the brief reign of the woodland Peonies. Wet weather continued on and off all day Tuesday but I can't complain as it was definitely needed. Most of the Peony petals are now on the ground but the rain and cool temps have everything else in the garden glowing and growing.
This is P. obvata var. alba. This year I planted a couple of seedlings of this beauty but it will be a few years before I see any floral results.
Both of the photos below are P. japonica. Next will come the dramatic seed pods this variety produces.
Beautiful. Peonies are short lived. Rain is their enemy.

Lovely. Yes, good thing that you got the photos before the rain. :)

So pretty. And so much better than the lipstick pink flouncy stuff that I inherited!
