"I'm not sure you really know a tree until you've seen it
without its leaves. Naked, so to speak.
They are often at their most peaceful and romantic in winter,
like watching a loved one sleep."
. . .
— Nigel Slater, The Christmas Chronicles
Mark snapped this gorgeous little scene a few years ago at the Chicago Botanic Garden. We were there for a winter lecture by famed English garden designer Dan Pearson.
A beautiful shape. It is time to be trying to get there. Snip snip snip...

Its when it bares all that trees show what they are made of...well I know they have leaves...but one can be amazed by their overall shape as well as the arrangement of branches and texture and colour of their bark. Great picture.
