I am hoping that Ginkgo does as well in the ground as it has done in the pot.

Do these little Ginkos have those stinky fruits? I am fond of our neighbors Ginko in the fall when it turns that brilliant yellow. It is a big male. No stinky fruits.
I have a couple of tiny shrubs I need to find a home before fall. They sit in their pots too.
