I do love plants with red stems and that one's a beauty!

With gold foliage and red stems, blue flowers seem almost too much... But they're so early that the liveliness is just part of the excitement of spring, and few other clems of that season remain a feature for so long; most are background greenery by June.

Does the foliage green up at all when summer heat kicks in? I imagine/hope the stems stay red through the whole growing season; they'd be especially welcome in fall as an echo to coloring foliage.

The foliage has turned a bit more green so I would call it chartreuse; still quite gold compared to other plants around it.

Wow, I love these colors. What a bright spot!

I don't think I really noticed the red stems until now. When it was flowering that was all I paid attention to.
