We only got a half and inch of rain the last week in August and barely a quarter inch the first week of September. Trees and shrubs and my new plantings all need to be hydrated as we move towards winter. Rain was forecast on Monday and I was going to have to water the garden if it missed us the way it had been doing.
Not this time. We've had just over 5 inches of rain since Monday night. Looks like it will be clear skies until late next week. I still have some plant orders yet to arrive so I am hoping things dry out a bit so I can get some work done in the garden.
That old Morton's salt slogan seems to be our new normal: "When it rains, it pours."
How we need some of that pouring rain. No rain here as yet this month other than a sprinkle here and there. I will have to begin watering to prepare all for winter.

A lot of rain! That big leaf looks so lusciously happy. I watched gray skies all day yesterday but never a drop.

I can't even imagine that, Linda. I'm SO envious.

I am happy to get all that rain since it was very dry but I'd rather have an inch a week spaced out all month. But it is making it a bit wet to do any work and I am itching to make some changes and have plants on order.

Until this week it seemed like the storms kept splitting and missing us. Can't complain much as we needed the rain. But it makes it a bit difficult to do much in the garden.

I'm with Lisa - really, really need some good soaking rains here. Temps are still in the 90s and it has been way too dry. I know too much can be a pain - too bad it doesn't space itself out in terms of time and space.
