Our string of chilly overnight temperatures followed by two rainy nights means that not as much is blooming as I expected to see by mid-May. The early bloomers are still the stars of the show.
Primula, but is it the oxlip or cowslip? I am never quite sure.
Primula sieboldii
The last Hellebores: 'Kingston Cardinal'
and 'Sympathy.' My ten year old plant is as big as Paeonia mairei which it is planted next to.
Trillium sessile
Trillium grandiflorum
Trillium luteum
Fritillaria pontica with Primula kisoana. See the black grid in the background? That is an old milk crate that the Frits are growing through to deter the rabbit invasion.
The last of my Tulips, T. acuminata
Brunnera
Muscari latifolium
Viola labridorica
The common wild violet (Viola odorata) is all over my garden. I love it and was pleased to discover a nice large patch of the white flowered one.
Narcissus 'Dreamlight'
Paeonia japonica
I moved a small Peony seedling a few years ago and it finally bloomed. It appears to be P. obvata which was a complete surprise to me.

I was scrolling through, nodding and liking, but had to laugh when I saw the violets. The ones I have are extremely invasive in my flower beds. They form dense rhizomes and small seedpods not connected to flowering so they can be cleaned out and still come back strong. Hopefully yours are more well behaved than mine. I'm glad spring has sprung for you.

Your blooms are lovely even if there aren't as many as you might like. Let's just hope that this long cool spring will drag out the blooming times. Yes, I need some of that Muscari latifolium. I have a peony blooming too. An old fashioned one. I don't know the name of it. Happy GBBD.

You have some beautiful flowers! Those frittilaries (sp?) and the hellebores - wow! My three peonies aren't blooming yet, but it won't be long. I get confused about primula names. I have some pretty plants and I don't get much beyond primrose. I do have a wonderful Japanese primrose that has a tall stem with flowers. It loves blooming in water.

You've got lots of color going, especially with the unseasonably cold temperatures you've had. I'd love to be able to grow many of those flowers. Even the most common Primulas don't do well here - and you already know my sad song about peonies.
