Our last significant rain was July 26. We keep having rainy days in the forecast but they never materialize. Or if they do, it is not enough moisture to even dampen the soil. So I am spending more time than I prefer schlepping hoses around the garden.
On the other hand, I can't really complain since the folks all around us who got rain this week, received it as part of the devastating derecho storm system that swept though the Upper Midwest. Tornadoes are our typical scary storm system; we don't need any hurricanes to liven things up.
Yes, things can always be worse. It has been threatening rain here for several days. Today is the second day of no sun. Sprinkles here and there. I don't expect anything more. The humidity has been so high that you are wet when you come in from a stroll around the garden even after lunch. Lots of interesting shadows.

Ah, there's no fun like hose wrangling is there? ;) We've been told a heatwave is coming and it's certainly been warming up with each passing days but this morning we awoke to a forecast of tropical moisture in the area. We've had a few fat droplets but it doesn't look as though we're going to get anything remotely close to real rain so I was out with the hose myself this morning, preparing for the heat to come.
