Since our weather forecast predicts frost tonight and potentially a week of rain beginning on Saturday, I went outdoors yesterday afternoon with the garden clippers to see what was still in bloom. Autumn Crocus and Toad lilies were the only flowers left in the garden, though they were surrounded by beautiful foliage everywhere I looked. I brought an armful of Toad lilies inside for a vase. This grouping includes Tricyrtis formosana, T. hurta and T. 'Miyazaki'.
Even if most of these buds don't open, I always enjoy the look of them all puffed up, ready and waiting.
Tricyrtis 'Lightning Strike' has dramatic striped foliage.
I processed the reference to frost but then nearly swooned over the mention of a week of rain, Linda. The toad lilies are lovely, another genus on the long list of plants I wish I could grow, greedy gardener than I am.

KRIS — The percentage of rain is only 30-40% on any day mentioned next week, so I am not counting my chickens.

OOooooo I really like that lightening strike. The foliage on them is so clean. Mine are blooming valiantly but the leaves have lots of brown. We are expecting frost the next couple of nights too. Happy GBBD.

Linda, they almost look like sculpture. I think my toad lilies are about to bloom. I'll go out and check tomorrow. I don't know which type I have. Happy Bloom Day. :) ~~Dee
