Well, I'd be very annoyed to have a bug like that sitting on my nose too! The bug should have chosen to affix itself to his hat.

Handsome statue! I thought it was a horsefly, but a Google search shows me it's not. Then I searched "bug red eyes". Got ads for Visine!! Found red-eyed bugs, but no match for your critter. Gave up. (I'm easily entertained, I guess 😊) Do you know what it is?
